Legal Help BC's Ask a Human service (formerly Ask JES) connects you with a legal navigator, a real person, legally trained to provide legal information, by live chat, call, email or text. It’s live Monday to Friday 11am-2pm for phone calls and live chat. During offline hours navigators will respond to text and email inquiries. It's developed and maintained by the Justice Education Society of BC, a non-profit organization with over 36 years of experience providing legal education and information to British Columbians. Ask a Human provides legal information, not legal advice, and is not a substitute for speaking with a lawyer about your specific situation.

Ask a Human can walk through your specific situation with you, answer follow-up questions, and help you figure out next steps. Legal Help BC can provide your with additional information and find services right for you. It's live Monday to Friday, 11am–2pm; outside those hours, you can leave your contact information and get an answer by email.

• Free for all. There's no cost to use Ask a Human.
• No income qualification. You don't need to meet financial eligibility requirements to use this service. You don’t even need to provide us with your real name.
